The ARC Daily Intelligence Rundown

Lockheed is getting $694 million for hypersonic missiles, Anduril and Qualcomm want to bring laptop manufacturing back to America, and Audi is throwing $4 billion at a Georgia factory. Meanwhile, Vertiv is spending $1.45 billion on data center power infrastructure, Washington is offering Constellation up to $5 billion in nuclear financing, and Infineon is betting €1.1 billion on power chips. Celestica's AI infrastructure revenue is exploding, DoorDash reportedly wants Instacart, and Coca-Cola is still moving more beverages. Unfortunately, BNSF has flooded tracks, Qatar is missing LNG deliveries, and Iran is threatening tankers. Everybody wants to build the future, but electricity, materials, transportation, and geopolitics are still running the tollbooths.

Backbone Pulse

Wall Street is having a party, but the physical economy isn't celebrating quite as loudly. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq gained on AI enthusiasm, while rail traffic remains strong and freight demand has cooled modestly. Copper and domestic steel remain expensive, and the Baltic Dry Index is retreating. Industrial activity is holding up, but transportation and input costs are telling different stories.

Oil has slipped below $100, yet crude inventories continue shrinking and gasoline still costs north of $4.26 nationally. Agricultural futures are broadly weaker, while feeder cattle buck the trend. Bottom line: AI is driving equity optimism, energy is keeping inflation pressure alive, and the industrial economy is expanding unevenly.
